Simple summer desserts are the greatest time saver and sweet treat for hot days.

simple summer desserts

There are of course several simple summer desserts to make while enjoying the weather, but when it’s too warm, sometimes the fastest and easiest option is the best.

Whether you want something light or on the heavier side, many desserts will work in your favor.

The same goes for a healthy dessert versus a more sugary dessert, both are absolutely delicious and it really comes down to your preferences and cravings.

All these simple summer desserts take under 10 minutes to make, just make sure you have the ingredients prepared beforehand so everything is ready to put together when you are ready to eat it.

This post is all about the easiest simple summer desserts for 2024.

These summer desserts are perfect if you need something cool and sweet to replenish your energy.

Most of these desserts are things that you may not want to make for a large group of people, so keep that in mind if you are looking for something to make for a party or several guests.

Although it’s not impossible to do, making these desserts for a bunch of people will definitely take out the simple and easy aspect of it.

So it’s best just to make these simple summer desserts for yourself or a friend, that way you can relax with something to eat and enjoy the weather.

All of the ingredients can be found at the store and assembled on your own, and some of them can be pre-assembled if you just want to have something you can easily grab without having to make a mess.

Or you can create your own flavors using homemade recipes if you have a specific allergy that may come up in a lot of different ingredients or just prefer making it yourself.

The homemade option will of course take more time, but if that is something you really want to do, then you probably already know that.

Moving on to the simple summer desserts, here are some of the easiest ones to get you started!

Fruit Juice Popsicles

One of my favorite childhood memories is making and then eating juice popsicles. We picked a type of fruit juice to use and then put them in popsicle molds overnight and got to enjoy them after lunch the next day.

It is such a simple but delicious treat for kids and a fun way to get them involved in the creation process. If they can manage to be patient for a couple of hours, then they will get to enjoy their hard work.

You can really use any kind of juice for popsicles, some of the most common ones I used were orange and apple juice.

But you can also use something like lemonade or different flavors of lemonade, iced tea, or even Kool-Aid.

As long as you are willing to wait a couple of hours and have enough freezer space, then juice popsicles are super easy and great for kids.

Or you can eat them yourself when you need a nice cold sweet treat to enjoy on a hot summer day.

 Watermelon

If you don’t consider eating fruit as part of a dessert, then this one may seem a little strange. but the truth is, fruit is super sweet and can totally fit the role of being a dessert.

It is definitely a lower-calorie option that still tastes great and has a ton of vitamins and other health benefits.

Tagging along to the fruit juice idea, you can make watermelon juice, which is amazing. Watermelon juice is super sweet, and if you blend it until the texture is smooth, then you will have made a great and easy dessert.

You can drink it as is or turn it into a popsicle. Watermelons are so big that you could do both if you wanted to.

 Parfaits

The last simple summer dessert in this list that contains fruit is a parfait. If you are trying to avoid tons of sugar but still want to have something to enjoy, a parfait might be the dessert for you.

While the base is yogurt, there are a variety of different toppings you can add to make it fit your tastes.

For example, if you wanted something super fruity, you could go for a nice blend of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. If all of those are too flavorful, you could also add bananas.

The yogurt itself will be on the heavier side, but all of the fruits should combat that. For a little bit of a crunch, you can also add other things like nuts if you’re not allergic to them.

Things like sliced almonds and pecans are some of my favorite extra add-ins that add a slight change to the texture without completely destroying the taste.

Extra toppings that will contribute to taste and texture include chia seeds, honey, granola, peanut butter, raisins, and chocolate chips.

You can pick and choose from all of these options what you think would taste the best when paired together, and make a dessert that you will really enjoy!

Not only is it a little bit healthier than, say, frozen yogurt, but you can make it right at home and don’t have to get it.

If you have more time, you can also switch up the base and make a smoothie bowl instead of using yogurt.

Floats

There were a couple of different names I could have used for this, but the basic idea for this simple summer dessert is something like a creamsicle or a root beer float.

However, I didn’t want to specify it to just those two, so you can choose any drink you want.

We are moving away from the healthier simple summer desserts and going towards a more sugary dessert that may be just what you need.

You can’t have one without the other, and sometimes you just want something sugary. If you have the ingredients, something like a creamsicle or a root beer float is super easy to make, all you need is your drink of choice and a scoop of ice cream.

All of these desserts have the hot weather in mind, so they are suggested to cool you down and help get your energy back.

This one may be a little easier to make for several people because you can buy most of these ingredients in large quantities, so if you’re trying to figure out what to have as a dessert, maybe this option would be the easiest.

The homemade option for this dessert would be making your own ice cream, which can be done with an ice cream maker or you can use the plastic bag and salt method where you make it by hand.

If you happen to have a ninja creamy, you can also make vanilla ice cream that way. However, these options are going to take a lot more time, so it may be safe to stick with buying ice cream.

 Milkshakes

speaking of ice cream, milkshakes are another great simple summer dessert that you can whip up in just a couple of minutes.

You can use any kind of ice cream and whatever milk you have to create a creamy and delicious summer treat that is an easy and drinkable dessert.

Eating regular ice cream would be the alternative, and is just as yummy, but sometimes milkshakes just hit the spot.

On top of that, there are instances where it’s easier to have something you can drink instead of something you need to use both hands to eat.

If you’re making these for kids, and then enjoy doing things in the kitchen, milkshakes are a great and simple recipe for them to help out with.

You can buy ice cream from the grocery store or you can go to an ice cream parlor, which may turn out to taste even better if you put it into a milkshake. for floats, you could probably stick with vanilla ice cream from a grocery store and not be able to tell.

For milkshakes that emphasize the flavor of the ice cream, it will taste extra delicious if you get ice cream flavors that you may not normally be able to get at a grocery store.

Either way though, milkshakes are a little bit of a heavier dessert that will keep you full and cool you down.

That wraps it up, these are some of the easiest simple summer desserts that you can make to enjoy the hot weather.

You should be able to complete all of these recipes within just a couple of minutes unless you don’t have the ingredients prepped beforehand, but hopefully, you have something lying around to make it work.

Keeping the ingredients stocked even after you make your dessert will make it easier for next time and you will have a treat that can be whipped up in a minute or two.
