Healthy Breakfast Ideas For Work

Finding something quick and easy to eat in the morning can be challenging, especially when you need to get out the door quickly.

Depending on how much time you have, there are options for grab-and-go meals, and then there are meals that require more preparation but are still under a time limit.

If you’re not used to eating breakfast in the morning, this post is a great place to start! It is common not to eat anything in the morning, but you may feel a big difference in energy level if you do eat.

This post is all about healthy breakfast ideas for work when you’re in a rush.

So what makes a healthy breakfast? When we hear the word ‘healthy’ we often think of stereotypical healthy things like green juice or salad. But there are plenty of other foods that are just as good for you.

By making your own food, you can pick and choose what nutrients and vitamins you need, and which ones you want to avoid.

All of the foods on our list are listed to be easy to make, but there are also pre-made options you can find at your local grocery store.

However, if you want your food to taste fresh, we highly recommend making it yourself, even if it may take a couple of minutes longer.

Or, if you know you won’t have time in the morning to make a hearty breakfast, you can prepare everything the night before. That way, you can easily get your meal together in a few quick steps.

Whether you love breakfast or not, there will surely be something for you!

These are also great bites to grab for kids on the way to school, and if you give them a plate or napkin, crumbs won’t spill.

Most of these healthy breakfast ideas for work are mess-free, but we have added a couple of options to make sure you can confidently bring these with you without the worry of dropping them.

We hope you love these ideas just as much as we do!

Healthy Breakfast Ideas:

First off, these are the foods you are going to need to prepare ahead of time. You can do this the night before, or on the weekend you can make a large amount to sustain you for the week.

If you have the time to make these, then you won’t need to make anything in the morning. (These are great recipes to do if you consider yourself a night owl rather than a morning person.)

Recipes that need preparation:

Mini Muffins-

Tiny little bites of deliciousness: mini muffins! Of course, you could just make regular-sized muffins, but mini muffins are fun if you like to eat your food in bites.

There are tons of great muffin recipes that you can use depending on your personal preferences, but if you need any ideas, we’ve got a couple of recipes ourselves that you may love!

These are the Best Flourless Banana Muffins that we’ve ever tried! They are super easy to make and even easier to clean up.

They use oats instead of regular flour and are really moist! If you like bananas and chocolate chips, this is the recipe to try!

Or maybe you want something else? These Mouthwatering Banana Granola Muffins take a little longer to make but are just as worth it.

The granola blends perfectly with the batter and creates a fluffy light texture that makes you want to go back again and again.

Use a napkin or container to hold mini muffins.

Banana Cookies-

We hope you like bananas because we’ve got another recipe for you! This one can become zero-sugar without the added chocolate chips.

Either way you make them, they are perfect for a pick-me-up in the morning when you want something nutritious and filling.

These 7-Step Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies are simple and delectable.

Not to mention that they are super healthy too! You can freeze them or refrigerate them for a longer shelf life, and then heat them up when you’re ready to eat.

Use a napkin or plate to keep these cookies from spilling crumbs in hard places.

Trail Mix-

There’s nothing like homemade trail mix! It’s tasty and you can make it exactly how you want it. You can grab some for breakfast or put it in your bag for a late-morning snack.

Depending on what you add, trail mix can be nutritious and filling, just like anything else you would normally eat for breakfast.

You can add things like nuts and dried fruit to make the perfect blend of sweet, salty, and savory.

Use a bowl or cup with a lid (if you are going to be putting it into a bag) to keep trail mix safe and in one spot.

Cinnamon Oats and Apples-

This assortment of foods is kind of like oatmeal, a mix of cinnamon, oats, and apples almost tastes like a dessert!

It’s perfect for big batches, and you can put them into a container and store them in the fridge. If you like mixing textures, we recommend trying this one!

Use a bowl or cup to hold this concoction, make sure to have a spoon with you, too! This breakfast food can be messier than others.

Next up, there are a couple of options for healthy breakfast ideas for work to get from the store rather than making them yourself. These are for occasions when you know you won’t have time to whip something up but still want to eat.

For your convenience,

Grab And Go:

Applesauce-

Sweet and easy to consume, applesauce comes in convenient-sized packaging and can be resealed after opening. So even if you don’t finish it, you won’t have to worry about throwing it away immediately after.

This is one of our personal favorites and can be eaten not only for breakfast but as an afternoon snack if need be.

Granola Bars-

Granola bars are also easy to eat because of the packaging, but make sure you start and finish this in one go so it doesn’t sit out and get all weird.

It’s great that you can buy these in bulk, and can be stashed in the office or a car just in case.

Dried Fruit-

Although the vitamins aren’t as fresh, this option is definitely less messy. Dried fruit is another snack you can eat just because. It doesn’t have to be a breakfast, although it most certainly can be.

But what if you need something right now?

If you’ve got a little bit of time, then we’ve got some ideas for you!

These are foods to

Make Right Away:

Yogurt and Fruits (Fruit Parfait)-

A good way to get protein and vitamins is in yogurt and fruit! You can make it any way you want, with different flavors of yogurt and a variety of fruits!

If you’re not wanting to try something unique quite yet, you can always stick with a classic: vanilla yogurt with strawberries and blueberries.

Use a cup to hold the yogurt and fruit, this meal can also become messy so have a spoon and napkins on hand.

Smoothie-

If you’re familiar with our blog, you will know that we love smoothies! Have a go-to smoothie recipe already? That’s great!

Or maybe you don’t? That’s fine too, we have a full page for all of our Smoothies that you can explore.

Some of our personal favorites are:

This Green Smoothie Recipe is absolutely delightful in flavor and tastes nothing like how it looks! It has tons of spinach, so if you’re a fan, you should try this one out.

The recipe is pretty easy to follow and doesn’t take up a lot of time.

Our other fan favorite is this 5-Minute Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

This fruit combination is a classic! The strawberries really come through in the flavor, too.

Use a cup with a lid for smoothies, especially if you plan on drinking this while you drive.

Toast-

Just pop some bread in the oven and you’ve got delicious toast! You can add butter for something fast, or peanut butter if you want the extra thickness.

If you have the time, you can go all out and make avocado toast. This will certainly fill you up enough to get through the first half of the day!

Use a napkin or plate!

Bonus!

Bagels-

You don’t have to be a fan of toast to use a toaster. You can also use it for bagels.

Bagels and cream cheese are one breakfast that many of us have eaten since childhood, so sometimes those memories come flooding back.

Exactly the same as toast, use a napkin or plate.

Fruit-

Or, if you’re tight on time. You can wash some fruit and plop it into a bowl or on a plate to take with you.

We love using grapes and blueberries for things like these because they aren’t messy and you can eat them in one bite.

Use a bowl or cup to contain fruit.

Eggs-

You may be someone who needs protein in the mornings, so this option is for you! Scrambled eggs or even an omelet is quite simple and doesn’t take up more than a couple of minutes.

If you’re worried about cleanup, though, this may not be your best course of action.

Use a plate or bowl to keep these eggs from getting everywhere.

Oatmeal-

Oatmeal is an uncomplicated and straightforward meal for breakfast that may be more of a sit-down dish but can be eaten quickly.

If you are going to take this meal on the go, please use a safe container or bowl that has a lid.

Lastly, if you have enough time to make a full-blown meal, here are some great ones to consider!

Long Preparation Time:

Pancakes-

We like making ours from scratch, but you can also use the pancake box mix if you like that better. Although the recipe doesn’t take too long, the setup and cleanup add time to the total.

You can wash fruit and use maple syrup to create a filling, hearty breakfast that will energize you for your working day ahead.

Use a plate or napkin if you take this to go.

Waffles-

There seems to be a common debate about whether people like pancakes or waffles more. Why should you need to choose?

Realistically, waffles may be tougher to make if you don’t have a special waffle maker that can form the shape.

The same as pancakes, use a plate or napkin if you take this to go.

Crepes-

Staying with the breaded theme, crepes are another great breakfast option if you’ve got time on your hands.

The batter can feed up to 3-4 people so this one is perfect for sitting down with friends or family. It’s also just fun to add a bunch of toppings to your crepes and personalize them.

Make sure you have a plate on hand for crepes.

bacon, Eggs, and Hashbrowns-

This is truly a hearty and filling meal! However, this meal is not a good one to make for a single person. Unless you can save the rest for later.

If you have the time to eat this in the morning, then might as well go all out!

Use a plate for these foods, or put them into sealed containers if you plan on eating them later.

English Muffins-

Definitely not a hard breakfast to make, but if you’ve got some time to make it, then they are super yummy.

You can add ham, cheese, eggs, and more into the middle to create a nice and warm meal to take with you to work.

Use a napkin to catch the crumbs from your English muffin.

That’s it!

These are a couple of the many, many delicious foods you can eat for breakfast when you’re on your way to school or into the office.
