I don’t know about you, but I LOVE getting into the seasons with decorations and special treats that make the celebration feel more palpable.
Especially during the springtime when you can mess around with pastel colors and most fruits are in season, the best additions to your appetizers!
You can get really original with these designs, and these recipes may help you come up with your own and end up even better than you might imagine.
For now, you can follow the best spring appetizer ideas and instructions to create wonderful little snacks for your guests.
If you’re looking to make your own, you may be wondering what you could possibly use or do to make something that tastes and looks good.
Although I’ve kind of already mentioned it already, specifically for spring appetizers and snacks, you want to follow a very loose guideline.
For example, you can use these elements:
Flowers
Pastels
Bees and butterflies
Swirls
Blue skies
Clouds
Picnics
Parasols
Sun hats
Are these elements all over the place? Maybe.
But that’s what makes the process of coming up with ideas and designs so much fun! You can mix and match to create the perfect aesthetic.
Speaking of aesthetics, let’s move on to the main event!
Appetizers you’ll love:
Fruit flowers
There are a ton of different ways you could make fruit flowers. If you’re looking for a super simple and easy DIY, you can put fruit on a long skewer and carve out flower shapes with melon fruit. This one doesn’t take too long, and you should be able to do this within 5 to 10 minutes depending on how many make.
Perhaps you’re looking for something a little more detailed? In that case, you can use strawberries and thinly slice the edges off while the point of the strawberry is facing up. Don’t cut all the way through at the bottom and work from outside to in. You will end up with a beautiful strawberry rose.
The last option you could use would be most fitting for a large group of people. Put an assortment of fruits into a large bowl and use some of the bigger fruits, like apples, oranges, or kiwis to make a flower shape.
For this, you want to first cut the fruit into halves. Then, carve out ridges on the side that would connect two halves together to make a whole. (This would be the exposed part of the fruit.)
You can either do sharp up and down motions like the smile on a jack o lantern, or a curved pattern like waves.
Make sure the surface of the exposed fruit is highest around the outside and starts to deepen towards the middle. Like a real flower, the petals (the outside) sprout upwards and the center is hidden underneath.
Next up, we have:
Bunnies on a log
A classic kid’s snack with a cute spring twist! You may recognize the name from ants on a log, but this version is slightly different.
Instead of adding raisins to the peanut butter, add white (or whatever color you choose) mini marshmallows on top.
And then the white, mini marshmallows, look like little bunnies!
If you wanted to get even more precise with this appetizer, you could cut the mini marshmallow into smaller pieces to act as the different body parts, and then stick them together. Use a tiny, tiny bit of peanut butter to ‘glue’ the mini marshmallow pieces together if they are not sticking by themselves.
This snack would be great if you’re trying to sneak in a healthy component without making it too obvious.

You can also switch out the ingredients for similar ones if that’s what you have available or prefer.
Orange Creamsicle smoothies
Okay, but seriously. How amazingly delicious do these sound?!
If you haven’t tried an orange smoothie, yet, in general, you were really missing out. It has the same components as orange juice but tastes more creamy, and dessert-like.
Of course, you don’t have to make it into a dessert, because there are plenty of other ways to create an orange creamsicle smoothie without lots of sugar.
This recipe is made for the warmer seasons, and the color and taste go perfectly with the spring theme.
To make your smoothie, even creamier, you can add yogurt, bananas, or vanilla ice cream to create that silky, smooth texture you may be trying to achieve.
To go the extra mile, you can add whipped cream to the top in a cute glass with those mini umbrellas for each drink.
Staying with the pattern of the fruits, our next spring appetizer idea includes another popular fruit option.
Before we move on, however, I have an alternative if you don’t like oranges.
You can check out the Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe on our blog for a just as delicious, orange–free drink.
Strawberry layered cake
Now that I’m thinking about it, this appetizer also includes cream!
If you’re looking for a treat that’s going to be more filling or maybe you’re just trying to stay on theme and find a great dessert, a strawberry layered cake might be something you can try.
So far on our list, this spring appetizer will definitely take the most time so if you plan to make this, plan accordingly.
But what if you don’t like strawberries? That’s okay! I’ve got another solution for you. Instead of strawberries, you can replace that fruit with grapes or blueberries instead.
They will have a similar size and will work just as well in your dish.
Another version you could make. If you prefer to have a less messy aftermath, could be cupcakes!
Instead of making a whole cake and then cutting it up for everyone, you can make each person an individual cupcake so they don’t have to deal with cream getting everywhere.
This is a great bonus option that will taste just as good!
Flower cake pops
Surprise, surprise! We are going right back to the flower theme!
Another bonus if you decide to make the strawberry layer cake and have extra cake. You can use them for cake pops.
There are plenty of different ways you can make these cake pop flowers, so feel free to get creative.
Here are some examples!
You can design each cake pop into the shape of a flower and then put them all together into a bouquet or maybe you want to make the cake pop the center of the flower and add petals to the outside.
I did the second option, as you can tell from the image that introduced this spring appetizer.
In a bouquet, this is what they looked like:
They were absolutely delicious, and mess-free, and everyone loved them! Especially if you’re trying to monitor how many little ones eat, this spring appetizer may be for you.
