The recipe we are sharing today is one of the healthier recipes that is almost completely zero artificial sugar.

 Not only do they smell good, but they are delicious! 

It has become a staple in our household and an excellent way to eat a healthy dessert. 

This post is all about why banana chocolate chip cookies are perfect as a healthy option to normal chocolate chip cookies. The recipe will be down below!

The recipe itself is quite simple, and all of the ingredients provide a unique taste that makes this banana chocolate chip cookie recipe have its special flavor. 

This recipe is also gluten-free because it doesn’t contain any flour!

Just make sure that if you are making this recipe to be gluten-free, double-check the packaging on the ingredients to make sure they haven’t been contaminated.

Speaking of ingredients, these are the ones you were going to need:

2 mashed bananas

1 cup of Quaker oats 

½ cup of:

peanut butter 

shredded coconut 

and chocolate chips

This recipe doesn’t just make a delicious dessert, but can also be a great snack that you can prepare for at the beginning of each week.

Alternatively, there are other fruits and sweets you can add as toppings to the cookies to make them to your liking.

We recommend that if you prefer sweet cookies, you add something sweet like chocolate chips to the batter. These cookies don’t use most of the regular baking ingredients that would add most of their flavor.

The chocolate chips are a classic, but you can also add blueberries or raspberries for some sweetness without adding artificial sugar.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

One mixing bowl

A mixing spoon 

One spatula

Measuring cups

Two cookie sheets

Cooking spray

One masher

These are the materials you will need to make this recipe. However, if you plan to store these for later use, you will need one to two air-tight containers.

How to make banana chocolate chip cookies:

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare two cookie sheets with cooking spray and set them to the side.

Step 2: 

In a large bowl, mash two bananas until there are no large chunks. Then, add in the cup of Quaker oats and half a cup of peanut butter. Mix these three ingredients together until well incorporated.

Step 3:

Next, pour in the half cup of shredded coconut and mix that into the banana, oats, and peanut butter. At this point, the mixture should become completely combined before moving on to the next step.

Step 4:

After everything has been mixed, pour in half a cup of chocolate chips (or whatever you are using as a topping like blueberries or raspberries) and fold it into the batter. 

Step 5:

Divide the batter into about a third of a cup for each cookie and place each cookie on the cookie sheets 3 inches away from each other. 

Step 6:

Put the cookies into the oven and let them bake for 10 minutes, then turn them to the other side and bake for another 4 minutes. Once they are done, pull them out and let them cool for 10 minutes.

*We used a convection oven for this recipe so you may need to add a third of the time onto your baking time if you are using a different type of oven.*

Step 7:

Enjoy!

If you don’t plan on eating them right away, you can also throw them in the fridge and heat them up later on! 

These cookies can stay up to 2 weeks in the fridge and you can also put them in the freezer if you don’t plan on eating them just yet.
