Packing for a trip can be stressful, so here are the best long flight snacks for your next trip.
There are so many moving bits and pieces that it can be hard to remember to eat. This post will take care of that for you by showing you the quick and easy best plane snacks to pack.
The last thing you need to be worrying about is if you are going to be hungry during a flight. On top of making sure you get to the right location, have transportation, and a place to stay, you can’t expect yourself to juggle all of that.
You will learn what food groups you need to include to properly fuel your body which also doesn’t require extensive preparation. These will become your go-to best flying snacks, flight snacks to bring on long trips, and plane snack ideas.
This post is all about the best long flight snacks to prepare for your trip.
Food Groups To Include:
Fruit-
Fruit is an important food group to include in your airplane snacks because not only does it provide important nutrients and vitamins, but they also have a variety of different tastes that cater to your preferences.
Vegetables-
When preparing flight snacks for kids, it can be hard to get them to eat their veggies and get the proper nutrients they need. However, just like fruit, there are so many vegetables that have different tastes and sizes that can make them easier to consume.
These past two food groups are often mentioned a lot, but that is because they provide so many benefits to a healthy and functioning body. They also can help prevent you from getting sick or procuring a disease.
Grains/Carbs-
If you are anything like me, trying to find a carb-loaded snack to pack will be a breeze. While most of the options advertised are made from questionable origins, there are also some great healthy options out there if that is what you prefer.
Proteins-
There are many alternative ways protein can be consumed besides the most common option: meat. However, if you are going that route, adding some chicken or turkey to a sandwich is a great way to include it in your snack, and it also incorporates other food groups.
Dairy-
Dairy and other alternatives are super important to build strong bones because of the amount of calcium they have. Especially for little ones who are still growing, calcium can help ensure that they can be healthy and strong as they age.
Make sure to also include lots of water! Although there are many fruits and veggies on this list that can contribute to your water intake, nothing will be as effective as just drinking it pure.
*Keep in mind that you should also consider adding some sugar to help with the elevation change.*
Now that that is out of the way, here are the 25 Best Long Flight Snacks:
Applesauce-
Applesauce has been my go-to for several months now. Not only does it taste good, but it comes in closed packaging and can be resealed if you don’t finish it all at once.
Banana-
There are many forms a banana can take. Whole, sliced, pureed, etc. Grabbing a banana off your kitchen counter is super quick and easy.
Blueberries-
Blueberries are especially delicious during the early summer months, so if you are planning a summer trip and want a fruit that is in season, consider adding blueberries to the list.
Apple slices-
Although applesauce was previously mentioned, apple slices are just as great because they are holdable and contain the original rich nutrients of the apple without it being processed.
Sliced pear-
The sliced pear was added to the list for similar reasons, however, it should be noted that the pear is slightly messier than an apple, and may need to be more securely contained.
Cherry tomatoes-
Cherry tomatoes are a bite-sized and very easy snack to put together that doesn’t get your hands dirty or the space around you.
Grapes-
Similar to cherry tomatoes, grapes are bite-sized snacks that don’t need to be made beforehand and don’t need to be kept cold.
Starting with the fruits, these are all great options that require little to no preparation and are easy to handle. They also won’t make a mess so as long as you have a napkin with you to wipe your hands, you’ll be just fine.
Baby carrots-
Baby carrots are high in antioxidants and fiber which promotes good health and can help you reach your weight loss goals.
Dried Seaweed-
Seaweed seems to be a snack that people either love or hate, but if you do love it it is important not to have too much. (But really, you could say that for any food.)
Edamame-
Edamame is a great way to increase your intake of vitamin K and is actually considered a superfood! They also have a lot of fiber which helps to detox your body.
Snap peas-
Although they look somewhat similar to edamame, snap peas provide a very different variety of benefits, such as boosting your immune system and can help with healing scrapes and cuts.
These are only a few of the veggies that are flight-friendly. Many of them are my personal favorites because of their convenience. They are also a great choice because they don’t need to be kept cold so they will last on longer plane rides.
Granola bars-
Depending on the type of granola bars you decide to add to your airplane snacks, they could either be a sweet treat or a healthy energy boost. Either way, they are compact and packaged so they would break open in your bag.
Plantain chips-
These are sweet and crunchy chips that don’t have as many of the processed ingredients that other chips may have. Plantain chips are a great alternative if you are wanting to grab something healthy that still has the same texture.
Tostitos
Guacamole-
By far my favorite duo is Tostitos chips and guac. The chips add extra flavor to the guacamole and there are so many ways to customize it, it is impossible to go wrong.
plain granola-
Even though granola bars have already been mentioned, eating straight granola is very underrated. It tastes almost the same, and you have less of a mess because the granola bits are all bite-sized.
Popcorn-
Popcorn is another one of those foods that is clean and easy to pack because you can get them in small bags at the store.
Most of these fulfill many other nutritional needs, so these are just ideas to get you thinking about what you might want to include.
Yogurt-
Yogurt can be considered to have a weird texture, but it adds so many good probiotics to your system. This is more like a snack to have in the terminal because the elevation mixed with closed packaging never ends well.
Trail mix-
Trail mix is a great way to get a bunch of different nuts and fruits with all of their benefits eaten at once. It also can be used on pretty much any occasion.
Coconut chips-
Another healthy treat I was introduced to a couple of years ago was coconut chips. They are super sweet and crunchy and not very filling so just make sure you can set a stopping point.

Baby food puffs-
Another snack that is super underrated is baby food puffs. These are light and fluffy and come in good-sized containers to take on the go.
For a reference, this is what they look like:

Hawaiian roll sandwiches-
If you are looking for a bigger type of snack, the mini sandwiches might do the job. Just grab some small bread rolls, cut them in half, and pack them with your favorite sandwich contents.
Chocolate chip cookies-
Chocolate chip cookies are always a great treat, and especially with the elevation of the plane, it is important to take some sugar with you.
Gummies-
Gummies have several sugars that can act as a little pick-me-up in the air, and they come in super convenient small packaging.
M&Ms-
If you are worried chocolate chip cookies may melt in your bag, M&Ms can be an alternative. You can either add them to your cookies or take them by themselves, but they are a little harder to melt than chocolate chips.
If you don’t happen to finish all of your snacks on the plane ride, they can serve as great fillers before your next meal as you grab all of your luggage and get transported to your next location.
Great travel snack ideas! Healthy and yummy! Thank you!
